Thieves have ‘nose for the news’ JEDDAH: Huraimala, an agricultural city northwest of Riyadh, witnessed a strange theft on Saturday. Thieves took away bundles of local Arabic newspapers from a truck, leaving readers of Al-Jazirah, Al-Riyadh and Al-Yaum without their favorite Arabic dailies. Readers called the National Distribution Company (NDC) as well as headquarters of the three newspapers to find out the reason for their missing daily dose of “yesterday’s news today.” Muhammad Al-Faqeeh, assistant general manager of NDC for distribution, sent an urgent message to the three newspapers informing them about the theft. People are now wondering what is the motive behind the theft, whether it was to sell the papers in remote areas or recycle them, Al-Jazirah reported on Sunday. — Compiled by Arab News |
