JEDDAH, 11 June 2008 — Saleh Al-Turki, chairman Jeddah Chamber of Commerce and Industry, has been elected the new president of the Council of Saudi Chambers of Commerce and Industry (CSCCI) replacing Chairman of the Riyadh Chamber of Commerce and Industry Abdul Rahman Al-Jeraisy whose term ended this year. The 12-mmeber board of directors of CSCCI that met in Riyadh recently also elected Al-Jeraisy as the new first vice president and chairman of the Hail Chamber of Commerce and Industry Khaled Al-Saif, as the new second vice president. Al-Saif got 21 votes while his rival Saleh Al-Sahaimi of Madinah got nine votes. The board meeting also discussed the possibility of finding elected presidents for all the chambers in the Kingdom as a measure to boost the performance of the private sector. Currently, only the chambers of Jeddah, Riyadh and the Eastern Province have elected chairmen. |
